Q & A
MaceratingFlo R8 750W Rear Discharge Upflush Toilet System
Hi Jeffrey,
Thanks for your question.
Upflush toilets use a macerating pump system to grind and lift waste, making them ideal when the main drain is higher or farther away. Rear discharge models rely on gravity drainage from the back outlet, and are typically simpler where a proper waste pipe is already in place.
For your basement setup with multiple future connections (sink, shower, etc.), a macerating pump system with multiple inlets would be the most flexible option and allow easy expansion later.
If you’d like, we can recommend a suitable model based on your exact layout.

Unbelievable how quiet the macerator is. While yes, this installation has a LOT of parts from as simple as installing the toilet seat to as complicated it is to mounting the toilet to the macerator. I found the installation instructions and pictures EXTREMELY easy to follow. About the ONLY part you need to purchase is a new water line from the wall to tank. The kit comes with several different connections depending on your needs. All will seal great. The toilet and tank are all high quality, fit well together with all the included gaskets. The finish is a smooth white finish.
This macerating flo toilet is a true game changer. The idea of jack hammering my basement floor kept me from installing a toilet down there. This upflush toilet made it so much easier.
Im adding a bathroom in the basement my house only has 1 and I needed a pump up system. With this set up I was able to add the sink. I Wasn’t looking for anything fancy. This was perfect the pump dose it’s job poop went down and up and out no problem not too loud but these systems are not very quiet. I’m a big fan of oval shape toilets feels strong holds me up just fine. Toilet seat feels like all other seat it dose the job.
This toilet bowl comes with absolutely everything you could need and a thorough instruction manual to install this toilet bowl in any situation necessary perfect for any basement area. The mess hurting flow in installation guide walk you through step-by-step with a very thorough list of all the parts that are included and how to assemble. I love the aesthetics of this product and the power of the ultra 750.
We wanted to add a bathroom to our casita/detached garage. Unfortunately, adding it to our existing septic system was not an option. A friend recommended a macerating toilet and it solved the problem with very little trouble. Unlike a standard toilet, this one doesn’t require tapping into a city sewage system. You only need access to a water source and you can pump the waste into a homemade leach field. We simply dug a trench to carry the waste about 30′ from the building and used perforated pipe to disperse it. The macerating unit acts like a garbage disposal and doesn’t require dumping like other options. It can be installed directly behind/under the toilet or on the other side of the wall . We included a sink for handwashing (cold water only) and I understand it can even handle a shower or even a washing machine, but that exceeds our needs so I can’t confirm how well that would work. A nice feature is that it can pump the waste over a 100′ and up a slight grade. We also haven’t detected any odor, presumably because it doesn’t store anything within the bathroom. It was very easy to install (just an exit hole and a few lag bolts into the concrete floor) and even includes a self-closing toilet seat. This toilet was an inexpensive and easy alternative to adding a whole new septic tank and works really well.
I was honestly skeptical about getting a macerating toilet, but I couldn’t be happier with my decision. Installation was much easier than I expected and there was no major plumbing work required. It’s been running flawlessly ever since. The motor is powerful yet surprisingly quiet, and the flush is strong.
It’s perfect for adding a bathroom in places where traditional plumbing would cost a lot (I installed mine in the basement). The compact design also saves space without sacrificing comfort. Everything is sealed tightly and works exactly as advertised.
If you’re considering a bathroom addition or remodel in a tricky spot, this macerating toilet is absolutely worth it. It’s a great investment in both convenience and functionality.
